About
First class first aid training
As our name suggests, Herts First Aid Training provides training in first aid throughout Hertfordshire. If you operate in Hertfordshire then we’re your go-to firm for first aid training.
It doesn’t matter whether your nominated delegates are reluctant or enthusiastic, thinkers or doers, informed or in-the-dark. Herts First Aid Training cuts through. We create ‘ah ha’ moments of deep understanding. Then we turn this understanding into practical skills so that your people become capable first-aiders.
The business is owned and run by Brian and Carla Thompson who have spent their careers making workplaces safer. Together, we provide training courses at your premises, for small groups of up to 12 people. When on-site training isn’t practical, your staff can join our regular training courses held at convenient Hertfordshire venues.
Meet Brian
Your training instructor
Hello, I’m Brian Thompson, the lead first aid training instructor. I pride myself on being a first-class verbal communicator. I carry an ID card which confirms that I am a qualified tutor and assessor to Good Skills standards. My role is to bring everyone we train to the required level of understanding and skill in first aid, so that when an emergency happens your first-aiders can make a real difference and transform people’s life chances.
I’ve spent my working life promoting effective health and safety at work. I started in construction, which has considerable safety challenges. My work has taken me around the UK and abroad, operating to satisfy different safety regimes within different cultures. I’ve worked on diverse projects including Brocket Hall, Amersham Pharmaceutical, Stansted Airport and Hong Kong’s Chek-Lap-Koi Airport. I bring this in-depth safety knowledge to the first aid courses which I deliver, so your staff get real-world training that works in practice.
Outside of work I’m a PADI qualified Rescue Diver and Dive Master.

Here’s Carla
Your course manager
Naturally, I’m qualified in first aid at work. My role is to ensure the quality management of course delivery. That means I get involved in the administration of bookings for training courses. I also track feedback from those that book and those who attend to make sure that we constantly improve on our training service.
When I’m not working I enjoy a spot of shopping, socialising and a cracking novel.
